Blog Post #6: Mood
In my book, "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher, I am starting to feel very interested but also kind of empathetic. The main character Ben Wolfe has fallen in love with a girl named Dallas. But I just find out that the boy we thought was her brother, is actually her child. Her uncle had sexually abused her, causing her to become pregnant. Ben had made the decision to stay with her no matter what. He knew he was going to die within a year anyway. I feel empathic because Dallas has had to keep this secret and put up with a baby boy when she was 13. It must've been very stressful since she has to keep the secret form everyone except for her mother, all of her life I also found out that the man Ben has been trying to help out, know as the "town drunk" has also sexually abused children in the past. This is why he is always getting drunk. I have a prediction that the "town drunk", Rudy is Dallas's uncle. This is why the mood interested comes to my mind as I read this book.

Blog Post #5: Mood
The mood that I get from my book by Chris Crutcher in "Deadline" is somewhat sad but also inspiring. The main character, Ben knows he is going to die and it's just a matter of time. But, he never gives up or feels sorry for himself. That's why he doesn't want to tell anyone. He doesn't want special treatment. Ben made it as a starter on the football team because of his hard work and dedication. Yet nobody knows he is slowly dying. Not even his brother, the starting quarterback. The mood of my book reminds me of the many experiences I've dealt with that had to do with dieseases and death. But the story inspires me to live everyday like it's my last. That is why I kind of feel sad, but I am also inspired by my book "Deadline".

Blog Post #4: 150 Word Summary
The book I am reading is, "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher. I have been introduced to Ben Wolf, Cody Wolf, Dallas Suzuki, Ben's dad, and Ben's mom. Ben was diagnosed with a diesease that will kill him by the end of his senior year. He doesn't want to tell anyone, and threatends his doctor if he tries to tell his parents. Ben didn't really care if he died, he said that even as a little kid, he never pictured himself making it long enough to have a life. He decided to try out for football because he had always wanted to, but was too scared. I read about the homecoming football game. They put Ben in to be the wide reciever, and he made the biggest play in history. He was getting special treatment at the Homecoming dance, and even had a date with his life long crush, Dallas Suzuki. He is finally getting his head wrapped around the fact that he is going to die, but now he really doesn't want to. The fact that he is coming to a realization is a very big part of the story.

Blog Post #3: Foreshadowing
The novel I am reading is, "Deadline", by Chris Crutcher. I just read that Ben Wolf's life long crush, Dallas, just asked him to meet her at a restruant. It was kind of out of no where and then she walked away. I didn't get to read what happened. I am guessing that she will confess that she has feelings for him. This will almost complete everything Ben wanted to do in his lifetime before his diesease takes him down. I think the novel will take a turn from him playing football, into a love story. He might then quit football that he is doing very well in. I can't wait to see what happens when they meet up at the restaurant!

Blog Post #2: Exposition
In the book, "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher, Ben Wolf is the main character. Ben was diagnosed with a diesease, but won't tell anybody from his family. He wants to make the best out of what he has left of life. In order to do this, he decides to join football. He doesn't want the thought of dying to stop him from trying new things. Ben's doctor tries to convince him to tell his parents, but he won't budge. Ben doesn't feel scared though, he feels as if he always knew he would die young. He plans to get married, have his first kiss, and make the football team in his estimated 12 months of life.

Blog Post #1: Library Book
The book I am reading is "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher. By looking at the cover, I see the words "What if you only had one year to live...and you knew it?" When I read this I thought it might have been that he was dreaming and had thought that he was about to die, the is a boy that is upside down on the cover.
But after I read it, I realized that the character named Ben Wolf was diagnosed with a diesease that will kill him. He didn't want to tell his parents because he wanted to live his life normally. He decided try out for football, even if it means it can seriously hurt him. That is what I have read so far.
